The form of the Jewel Box evolved from one of my previous works, Innerspace, where I dealt with the structure of charred wood, up to its gradual disappearance. This time I have merged this process into one functional entity, a jewel box. In order to emphasize the contrast, I put completely different material and expressive characteristics into the opposition - synthetic stone vs. natural material, pure white matter against fragile structured black substance.
